Program Summary/Training Goals:

  • Fort Wayne, Indiana is the second largest city in Indiana. It helps provide the healthcare needs for Northeast Indiana, Northwest Ohio, and a portion of Southwest Michigan. There are many factories in this region for the automotive and orthopedic industries. Therefore, we see a lot of foot and ankle pathology.
  • The podiatry fellow is able to observe and assist in many types of foot and ankle surgery. We treat many sports related injuries, adult pathology including but not limited to bunions, hammertoes, midfoot, and hindfoot arthritis, flatfoot, and cavus reconstruction.
  • We do a high volume of joint preserving and joint destructive procedures.
  • We are affiliated with a level 2 trauma center and therefore do see foot and ankle trauma and diabetic foot infections.
  • The goal of the podiatry fellow is to get training from both podiatry and allopathic and osteopathic physicians. We believe their training will enhance their skills and make them more competent and confident physicians.
