Dr. George Tye Liu Elected President of American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons

TAMPA, FLORIDA (February 3, 2024)George Tye Liu, DPM, FACFAS, recently took office as the 73rd president of the 8,000-member American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). The official induction took place at the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference in Tampa, Florida on February 2, 2024.

“ACFAS is helping to shape the future of foot and ankle surgery and I am honored to help lead the charge with my fellow board members and colleagues,” Dr. Liu said. “All our collective vision gives us such a unique opportunity to redefine excellence and chart our course to better the profession and ultimately the health of the patients we serve,” he added.

Dr. Liu earned his doctoral degree in podiatric medicine at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his podiatric medicine and surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and received advanced training through orthopedic trauma fellowships at Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in Germany and University of Catania Emanuele Hospital in Italy.

Dr. Liu joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2009 in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery. Dr. Liu lectures nationally and internationally and is an esteemed researcher published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and textbooks.
